Mishi Juma Mboko<\/h6>\n<h2>Who is She?<\/h2>\n<p>Ms. Mishi Juma Mboko is an elected  Member of Parliament representing Likoni Constituency in Mombasa County, Kenya\u2019s second largest city and premier tourist destination. Prior to winning the hotly contested parliamentary seat for a second consecutive term, she served as the first County Women Representative , a position whose responsibility she executed with precision and transformed the lives and livelihoods of Women, youth, the marginalised, persons with disabilities and special interest groups.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/likoni.cdf.go.ke\/ngcdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/about-mp-frnt.jpg\" alt=\"Awesome Image\"><\/figure>\n<h6>LIFE<\/h6>\n<h4>Purpose and Mission<\/h4>\n<p>She was born, raised, schooled and is invested in Mombasa County; is a wife, mother, farmer, development practitioner, community mobiliser, lobbyist, an advocate for change and champion of the rights of the people of Likoni and the larger Mombasa County.<br \/>\nHer sole purpose and mission to diligently serve and giving back to the community is by way of passing her wealth of experience, knowledge, skillset, ideas, international exposure, networks and resourcefulness.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/likoni.cdf.go.ke\/ngcdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/mishipolitics.jpg\" alt=\"Awesome Image\"><\/figure>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h4>Why Politics<\/h4>\n<p>She sees her participation in politics as an opportunity for the community to participate in meaningful development and invest in transforming lives through bigger, broader and better managed ,well- resourced ,people focused and accountable programs and projects; participatory approaches; judicious use of public resources; human capital; harnessing the youth bulge; strengthened intergovernmental relations; securing local and foreign investment; protecting the county\u2019s natural resources, injecting development capital, incentivizing and scaling up local investment; introducing practical policies and frameworks; entrenching the rule of law and transitioning from what is commonly seen as usual to the unusual through a paradigm shift. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<p>        <!-- history-section --><br \/>\n        <!-- history-section --><\/p>\n<section>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/likoni.cdf.go.ke\/ngcdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/history-5-1.jpg\" alt=\"Awesome Image\"><\/figure>\n<h6>Hon. Mishi Mboko<\/h6>\n<h2> Call to Serve<\/h2>\n<p>She is a firm believer in economic freedom and has been instrumental in initiating people centered multi- dimensional development projects through the affirmative action fund with the primary focus being economic empowerment. In collaboration with partners, she has enabled women and youth to actively participate in home grown income generating projects<br \/>\nHer call to serve is driven by her passion and desire for transformation through building a community of change makers anchored in Mombasa County\u2019s rich heritage, its strengths, shared values and beliefs. She opines that the residents of Mombasa County must become the drivers of the change they want to see and that change happens when communities collectively and decisively take charge of what they have at their disposal. In doing so knowledge transfer and investing in human capital must be prioritized to allow the county to adequately prepare to manage its   infinite and diverse resources. She is intentional about the residents being at the forefront in identifying, owning and becoming active participants in the county\u2019s development agenda.<br \/>\nPrior to joining parliament , she was the first co-convener of the Civil Society Organisations in Mombasa County, which worked tirelessly in the peace building initiatives at the coastal region of Kenya. She was instrumental in mobilising and organising engagement forums and  platforms for communities to share their experiences and knowledge on the need to foster peace for their own development. She is a renown lobbyist and an advocate of women and children\u2019s rights and a campaigner against the abuse of drugs and alcoholic substances.\n<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/likoni.cdf.go.ke\/ngcdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/calltoserve2.jpg\" alt=\"Awesome Image\"><\/figure>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h4>Leadership<\/h4>\n<p>Ms. Mboko has also been a leader on Constitutional reform. She was the Co-Chair of several Multi-Sectoral Committees on Constitutional Reform, and Dialogue Forums on Constitutional Reform and a delegate to the National Conference on Constitutional Reforms. Her achievements have come with great personal sacrifice. It is during this period that she served as National Convention Executive Council  Women Representative \u2013 Coast region, Secretary General of  Coast citizen Council, and later Public officer- Kwale County and Board Member- Central Agriculture Board.<br \/>\nShe is an active contributor in Parliament and has travelled across the globe to represent the Country\u2019s national assembly on matters touching on Women\u2019s rights. She is an active member of the Parliamentary Service commission,  the parliamentary committee on  Transport and infrastructure, and the Appointments Committee. She also serves as aa National Executive Committee Member of Azimio la Umoja, Kenya\u2019s leading opposition coalition party.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/likoni.cdf.go.ke\/ngcdf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/mishi-educ.jpg\" alt=\"Awesome Image\"><\/figure>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h4>Education &amp; Skills<\/h4>\n<p>She recently graduated with a Master of Arts in International Relations from the United States International University- Kenya . She  also holds a B.Sc in Communication and public relations from Moi University. She has a Diploma in Public Relations from Nairobi University..<br \/>\nHon. Mishi Mboko is a highly self-motivated, conscientious and resourceful socio-political and governance practitioner with years of  experience working with communities on development issues including gender, youth and women, the girl child,  human rights, constitutionalism, housing, entrepreneurship, health, education, environment,   international and national organizations, with hands on knowledge in effective and timely programme interventions in relation to community, county and country  well-being , media engagement , conflict mitigation and peace building, political analysis, inter-governmental relations, policy development, legislation and parliamentary relations among others. elementor - v3.12.1 - 02-04-2023 *\/\n.elementor-heading-title{padding:0;margin:0;line-height:1}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title[class*=elementor-size-]>a{color:inherit;font-size:inherit;line-height:inherit}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-small{font-size:15px}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-medium{font-size:19px}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-large{font-size:29px}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-xl{font-size:39px}.elementor-widget-heading .elementor-heading-title.elementor-size-xxl{font-size:59px}<\/style>\n<h2>ACHIEVEMENTS AS MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT IN LIKONI<br \/>\n<\/h2>\n<p><strong>AS FIRST WOMAN REPRESENTATIVE (2013-2017)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Empowerment projects for Women, youth groups, Persons with disabilities including securing bursaries and scholarships in education, access to financial facilities for economic empowerment, value addition, innovation and talent development in Mombasa County.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AS FIRST WOMAN MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, LIKONI CONSTITUENCY (2017-2022)<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> In Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Construction of four modern education facilities\u00a0 &#8211; The Mishi Mboko Girls Secondary\u00a0 School, Mishi Mboko Primary School, Timbwani Secondary School\u00a0 and Timbwani Primary School as well as securing land for future development<\/li>\n<li>Issuance of scholarships and bursaries to over 25,000 needy cases across the constituency\u2019s five wards<\/li>\n<li>Refurbishing and facelifts for all primary and secondary schools in the constituency schools \u2013 Modern classrooms, dining halls, reroofing and removal of asbestos , school laboratories, perimeter walls , titling , renovations, sanitation and ablution blocks, landscaping, equipping with furniture and fittings<\/li>\n<li>Scholarships for skills development for youth in vocational training<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring high enrolment and retention in schools, and 100% transition from primary to secondary schools<\/li>\n<li>Accountability in management of schools<\/li>\n<li>Capacity building for teachers and motivation opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Quality education through adequate staffing in our primary and secondary schools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In Security<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Construction and equipping of a modern Police station at Shelly Beach<\/li>\n<li>Rehabilitation and equipping of Likoni Police Station<\/li>\n<li>Construction and equipping of Chiefs offices in the Wards<\/li>\n<li>Lighting up insecure spaces within Likoni<\/li>\n<li>Strengthened community participation in security<\/li>\n<li>Rehabilitation programs for youth involved in crime, drugs and substance abuse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> In Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Construction and improvement of access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in our settlements.<\/li>\n<li>Improving the infrastructure through opening up of access\u00a0 and connectivity through roads within the settlements across the constituency\u2019s 5 Wards. In total 99 Cabro roads have been done and plans are underway to increase the numbers . This has spurred economic activity , eased access to social services and amenities, and improved overall security and development.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring that all our schools, institutions and the community at large engage in regular environmental activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> In sports<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organized sports like tournaments across the constituency are used to tap and develop life skills and other social benefits<\/li>\n<li>Supporting football teams from across the constituency by providing the necessary sports kit and gear (soccer boots, branded sports attire, balls) for Soccer, Taekwondo and Volleyball teams in the constituency, the first of its kind.<\/li>\n<li>Sponsorships for participating and winning leagues<\/li>\n<li>Linking sportsmen and women to employment opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Empowering sportsmen and women through allocation of funds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Her Achievements through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund<\/h2>\n<p>1. Reviewed current laws on affirmative action and secured funding from Government in support of empowerment projects for Women, youth groups, Persons with disabilities, Civic education, Activities and training on Gender based violence, securing scholarships on education for youth, in secondary schools, colleges and universities,\u00a0 projects on table banking , innovation and talent for young people, value addition, procurement of equipment to enhance growth of organized groups and other empowerment initiatives. Projects have been undertaken in the county\u2019s six constituencies- Kisauni, Likoni, Mvita, Changamwe, Nyali and Jomvu<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2. Access to credit for women and youth through the women enterprise fund and youth enterprise fund and aces to government procurement opportunities and effectively communicate the same to communities and the relevant project staff<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>3. Carried out research on project procedures with the parent ministry.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>4.
